JM Kearsley – appreciation
JM Kearsley
Despite Joy (JM) being based in South Africa, she has a fascination for the Peninsula War of the early 1800s. This is the focus of her trilogy, of which the first two books have been published.
Using the setting of Wellington’s struggle against Napoleon, she weaves a story of love crossing class boundaries and survival.
While we know the heroes will suceed, it’s not always clear how they will get out of some sticky situations and it’s this sense of anticipation that keep her stories fresh.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for book 3. I wonder what battle this wil feature. Badajoz and xxx have had their turns.
