Short Story Preview: Jane S Piddy
Jane Piddy’s frail hands shook as she tapped her name into the Internet search engine. It was her first time on the World Wide Web and the kind assistant at the library had been very patient with her, explaining a bit about it and had helped her to log on. It was quite a thrill doing this, tackling modern technology head on. A week ago she had celebrated her eighty fifth birthday and had made a decision that, with probably not much time left, she would make the most of every day and try to do something new and different as often as she could.
After the assistant had helped her get the search engine up, he left Jane to her own devices. She stared at the screen, wondering what to look up then eventually settled on the obvious and with one finger carefully typed J-A-N-E P-I-D-D-Y. She struggled a little to get the cursor to point at the search icon and clicked.
