Owain Raw-Rees – Appreciation

Owain Raw-Rees

Owain and I met at a medal fair where I was advising on researching African themes and people. With this, I had relevant books available for purchase – niche topic material.
The outcome of our discussion was the publication of Somalia: Awards of a Fallen State and Solomomic Decorations.
I’ve written about the two books elsewhere, so won’t repeat it here. Take a look here.
Going through the publication process as we did provided Owain with an insight which has stood him in good stead for working on a publication with a medal dealer – watch this space…that’s for a more popular selection of medals.
And given our subsequent discussions, there are likely to be a few more niche topic medal books through TSL – keeping with the TSL mission of giving minorities a voice and preserving little-known nuggets of the past for future generations, and learning something in the process.
