Cherry Trees
I recently wrote a review about 3AM Wonder Paranoia and the restless night (Angela Kingston). 3AM is said to be the time in novels and storytelling when things happen in the night. Well I think that similarly Cherry Trees have a significant role to play in novels too.
The cherry tree features in Albatross by David Stroud, Gabriela Harding’s Sai-Ko and Anna Ryland’s A Second Chance.
And the book which triggered this post – Three Things about Elsie by Joanna Cannon – I’m looking forward to reading her book The Trouble with sheep and goats to read in due course. (Their titles appealed…)
The frequency with which cherry trees feature in literature prompted me to look up what they symbolise. In case you didn’t know – take a look here.
The Cherry Tree is also the name of the literary magazine for the Maryland Washington College and was the feature of a Huffington Post article back in 2013.
Some other titles with Cherry Trees which caught my eye:
Greedy Gus and the Cherry Tree – Anna Andurlakis
Cherry Tree Lane – Anna Jacobs
In the Cherry Tree: A Novel – Dan Pope
