On writing: Drafts
I’m constantly amazed when authors ask me how many drafts they need to have. Even more astounding is their thinking that 3 or 4 are sufficient for a book – novel or fiction. I can’t tell you how many drafts I work through when I write, I only know I have the equivalent of a little forest next to my shredder waiting for the day the final version is in print. A lot of editing and proofing is done on the screen, but there’s nothing like a hard print copy to pick up more of those little gremlins.
Sacha Black gives her views on that first draft too.
